The Neighborhood News is published at least quarterly -- January, April, July, and October. Printing and mailing costs are funded through advertising, SLLA memberships and individual contributions. As long as funds are available, the newsletter will be mailed to subscribers and leaseholders of city-owned lots on Shawnee Lake. Newsletters will also be posted on this web site for up to a year.
The newsletter includes information on issues affecting the lake or leaseholds, Shawnee city ordinances, educational material on lake-related topics, lake level and water quality, the game refuge, sports and recreation, and other topics of interest to lake residents and the general public.
Click on this link: HISTORY to read a newsletter written by leaseholder Linda Agee in 2007 about the history of the Shawnee Twin Lakes. This newsletter is the product of many hours of research using newspaper articles from the 1930's stored on microfilm at the Shawnee Public Library. A condensed version of this newsletter also appeared in the special Centennial Issue of the Shawnee News-Star and is on file at the Pottawatomie County Historical Society.
